Shoojit Sircar elected as jury for Short Film Competition at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

Director Shoojit Sircar has been elected to judge the Short Film Competition which will be held at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), this year.

This marks the first time Shoojit will serve as a judge and jury member for this section of the festival. Shoojit, who won the Best Director award at IFFM 2022 for his acclaimed film Sardar Udham, has been a significant part of the festival over the years.

Expressing his excitement over the new role he said, “I am delighted to join as judge for the short film competition at IFFM 2024. I am looking forward to experiencing the diverse storytelling and innovative filmmaking that the festival is known for. Short film is the core essence of filmmaking, it gives young voices an opportunity to express themselves in the most unique forms of storytelling.”

IFFM 2024 is set to take place between 15 to 25 August. On the film front, Shoojit last helmed Sardar Udham (2021), he is gearing up for his next yet-to-be-titled project with Abhishek Bachchan.
