Neha Dhupia recently opened up about struggling to find work in Hindi films and said that she has been offered South film instead. She was last seen in the Vicky Kaushal-Tripti Dimri starrer Bad Newz which released in theatres on July 19.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Neha said, “I come from a place where I have been struggling for 22 years to associate myself with interesting piece of cinema. Sometimes they do really well at the box office, sometimes you find a smaller audience to watch them."

She added, "So, whether films like Mithya (2008), Ek Chalis Ki Last Local (2007), Phas Gaye Re Obama (2010) or A Thursday (2022) that was an OTT release. One way or the other there is someone coming and telling, ‘hey, this was great’ or ‘we liked you in this’, ‘hey, you were really good in this so why don’t we collaborate and work on something together’. So, one way or the other it is very important to put your work out there.”

Speaking of how she hasn’t got any role after Bad Newz, Neha said, “I was glad my phone rang, but my phone doesn’t ring as much. So, now when you tell me ‘When was the last time you got a film offer?’ I got a film offer from down south, I don’t know too much about how I can go about it, because I don’t know a lot about the industry and I would love to work down south as well. And there were two offers back-to-back in the past three months.”

She added, “I don’t even remember when was the last time I got a Hindi film offer. I don’t know why my phone doesn’t ring that often. I also feel that industry is going through a really hard time so if I will go to knock on doors, which I always do and I feel there is nothing wrong in going out there and asking for work because you are not doing anything wrong.”

She reflected that the industry is going through difficulties as she said, “The people who are the ones who provide the work are the people who are struggling as well because they are not able to put down the math. Films have to be made apart from the script, the bigger script is the excel sheet of the money and that mathematics is not working out, so who do you actually go to?”

Bad Newz was produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra & Anand Tiwari.
