Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions issues statement on Kill remake: ‘Only English language rights have been sold’

Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions issued a clarification statement on the remake of Kill on Tuesday. There were some reports surfacing online that the Nikhil Nagesh Bhat actioner was going to be remade in the South Indian film industry. The production house clarified that only the English-language rights for the film have been sold so far.

Taking to Instagram, they wrote, “Putting the recent speculation surrounding the remake of our film, ‘Kill’ to rest- we confirm that only the English language remake rights have been sold. Indian language versions have not been acquired by any parties yet.”

Earlier, John Wick (2014) director Chad Stahelski had acquired the rights to remake the film in English. Chad, Jason Spitz and Alex Young will produce the film for their production company, 87Eleven Entertainment.

Last year, the action-thriller had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) where it was appreciated for its violent action sequences.

It stars Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Tanya Maniktala, and Ashish Vidyarthi. Nikhil, the director, has earlier helmed films like Apurva (2023) and Brij Mohan Amar Rahe (2017). Kill was released in theatres on July 5.
