Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira has minted just about Rs 2.4 crore at the box-office on Day 1, according to Sacnilk.com. It is among the lowest openings for Akshay as his last film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan opened at Rs 16.07 crore while Mission Raniganj minted Rs 2.8 crore on the first day.
Sarfira had an overall occupancy of 13.08 percent on July 12. In the post-pandemic era, Akshay’s films have struggle to hold their mark at the box-office. Apart from OMG 2 (2023) and Sooryavanshi (2021), none of his films were hits. He next has Sky Force and Singham Again in his slate, releasing later this year.
Speaking earlier to Galatta Plus, Akshay had spoken about success and failure and said, “I don’t let anything enter my head. I have seen a lot of people fall down; I have heard many stories. My father-in-law has taught me so much, because he saw the biggest success in life and then a complete drop. I have heard stories. What I do is take knowledge from other people, and I realise that these things are just to be kept at a one-hand’s distance. My job is to just keep working.”
Sarfira is directed by Sudha Kongara and also stars Paresh Rawal and Radhikka Madan in pivotal roles. It is a Hindi remake of her Tamil film Soorarai Pottru (2020) and was released in theatres on July 12.
