The romantic-comedy Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na completed 16 years since its release on July 4. To celebrate the occasion, the cast of the film reunited to sing the song ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ from Manmohan Desai’s 1973 romantic film Aa Gale Lag Jaa, which has been sung in the 2008 film multiple times. The film’s production house Aamir Khan Productions shared a video of the cast, including Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza, singing the song.
“16 years and we are still singing this song for everyone we love,” they captioned the video.
Imran Khan, who played the protagonist Jai in the film, starts the song while lying down on a beach, Aditi aka Genelia D’Souza follows. The video also features Meghna aka Manjari Fadnis, eventually followed by the other three members of the gang popping up. Others in the video are Shaleen aka Sugandha Garg, Jiggy aka Nirav Mehta, Bombs aka Alishka Varde, and Rotlu aka Karan Makhija.
The video ends with CSF inspector, played by Murali Sharma, showing up and saying with a smile, “Agli baar ye gaana gaaya na toh goli maar dunga (I will shoot you the next time you sing this song).” This was one of the most iconic dialogues in the film, which was said by the cop to Jai when he sings the same song to propose to Aditi at the airport in the film’s climax.
Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na was directed by Abbas Tyrewala. It also featured Ratna Pathak Shah, Paresh Rawal and Naseeruddin Shah.
