Saswata Chatterjee recently revealed in an interview that Deepika Padukone was pregnant in real life when the climax of Kalki 2898 AD was filmed. Saswata played the antagonist in the film and during the climactic sequence, he drags the character of Deepika with him.

Deepika plays a pregnant woman in the sci-fi thriller. Her husband, actor Ranveer Singh was also present when the scene was shot in Mumbai.

In an interview with News18, Saswata said, “Deepika is just ever-smiling. There is a scene in the film where I drag her by the hair. It was part of the last leg of the shoot and was shot in Mumbai because Deepika was pregnant by then. There was a lot of physical tussles in the scene, so I told Ranveer, don’t worry, for more physically challenging scenes, there’s a body double. He was so polite and humble. He smiled and said, ‘I know, Dada’”.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani. It was released in theatres on June 27, and combined elements of mythology to tell a futuristic dystopian story.
