Rajkummar Rao’s Srikanth, the biopic of visually impaired entrepreneur Srikanth Bolla, has an OTT release date. The film, directed by Tushar Hiranandani, and also starring Jyotika, Alaya F and Sharad Kelkar hit theatres on May 10. It will now land on Netflix, about two months since its release, on July 5.
The streamer Netflix shared the announcement on their Instagram along with a poster of the film. “Witness a vision that defied limitations. Srikanth, the extraordinary true story, arriving tomorrow on Netflix!” read the caption.
Srikanth was a mellow hit at the box office. As per Sacnilk.com, its Hindi version made a net box office collection of Rs 48.06 crore. The film has been made at a budget of Rs 40-50 crore.
Our review of the film read: “I didn’t quite get what Srikanth was trying to get at. Its sermons of ‘empathy not sympathy’ felt hollow since the film couldn’t go beyond Srikanth’s disability. It felt rushed, trying to squeeze in the lifetime of a person in two hours, hoping it would present a vivid image of his personality.”
