Neeraj Pandey recently opened up about not opting for de-ageing techniques for his upcoming film Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu in the lead. He said that it would look ridiculous to make the two actors turn into 21-year-olds using VFX.

In an interview with News18, Neeraj said, “We have done that only when it was the need of the story. Unfortunately, de-ageing is being overdone now bordering on the abuse of technology. For this particular story, you can’t age Ajay and Tabu’s characters into 21-year-olds. That would look ridiculous!”

The film features Shantanu Maheshwari and Saiee M Manjrekar playing the younger versions of Ajay and Tabu. Neeraj shared that they were clear to cast different actors for the younger versions since the beginning. “We were very clear from day one that there would be two different sets of actors to portray two age groups because that fits the story and that, I think, is the beauty of it. People change after 24. Our physical appearance changes.”

In the film, Ajay plays a convict who is released from jail and re-unites with his love, Tabu. It will be Neeraj's first theatrical directorial since Aiyaary (2018). Since then, the director has been working on web series like Special Ops (2020), Khakee: The Bihar Chapter (2022), and The Freelancer (2023).

It will also mark Ajay’s tenth collaboration with Tabu. The actors have previously worked together in blockbusters like the Drishyam series and Bholaa.
