Article 370 director Aditya Suhas Jambhale recently talked about the making of the film. In an interview, the director said that the film “reflects his belief in the creation of one India following the 2019 abrogation.”

Aditya said that the genesis of the film took place during the shooting of his supernatural project, Baramulla. He said that producer Aditya Dhar’s trust in his abilities to handle sensitive subjects led to the development of the film.

There have been questions raised on the film’s intent, as it is releasing during an election year. Responding to them, Aditya said, “We have the right intent. It reiterates that India is one. People tell us that it’s for the sake of elections, and we tell them, ‘Go, watch the film.’ As a filmmaker, I want to have an opinion. I support the decision of Article 370 being made redundant and creating one India. Unless I believe in it, I cannot make it."

The film, starring Yami Gautam Dhar and Priya Mani in lead roles, is scheduled to release on February 23.
