Actor Poonam Pandey is alive; issues video claiming ‘awareness’ for cervical cancer

Actor Poonam Pandey is alive. She clarified the same via a video on Instagram saying that it was an awareness drive for cervical cancer. Her Instagram post on Friday said that she had died due to cervical cancer at the age of 32.

In the video posted on Saturday, she says, “I am alive. I didn’t die because of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer.”

In the caption to her post, she wrote, “Unlike some other cancers, cervical cancer is entirely preventable. The key lies in the HPV vaccine and early detection tests. We have the means to ensure no one loses their life to this disease.”

In another video, Poonam can be seen apologising for the sudden announcement of her death on Friday. She clarified that it was done to create conversations around cervical cancer. 

In her statement which she made through a post, she said, “This unexpected turn of events, albeit startling, serves a greater purpose. While I do understand how you would have perceived this in bad taste, I also implore you to consider the greater cause. Before passing judgement on the act, I urge you to recognize the alarming concern burdening women worldwide.”

Poonam also shared a link to a website created by her to spread more information about cervical cancer and how it can be prevented.
