Days after the news came that comedian Sunil Pal was allegedly kidnapped after being invited for an event in Haridwar, now Welcome (2007) and Stree 2 (2024) actor Mushtaq Khan has claimed that he was also abducted after he went to attend an event in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut.

As per reports, the actor was paid an advance amount to attend the event, as well as provided with flight tickets. His business partner Shivam Yadav told India Today that Mushtaq was called for an award show in Meerut on November 20. He was even given an advance amount that was transferred to his account and flight tickets were sent. When he landed in Delhi, he was asked to step into a car and was soon driven to the outskirts of Delhi, said to be somewhere near Bijnor. The kidnappers tortured the actor for 12 hours and demanded a crore as ransom. They eventually took Rs 2 lakh from the actor and his son’s account.

Early in the morning, Mushtaq heard the azaan and realised a mosque would be close by. He somehow managed to run away from the place, sought help from the people there and, with the help of the police, returned home.

“Mushtaq sir and his family were completely shaken over what happened with him. However, he was always sure that he would file an FIR after he composed himself. Yesterday, I went to Bijnor and filed an official FIR. We have proof of the flight ticket, the bank accounts and even CCTV footage near the airport. He also recognises the neighbourhood, even the house where he was kept. I think the police team will surely get the culprits soon,” said Shivam.

Some days before a similar incident happened with comedian Sunil Pal when he was reportedly invited to Haridwar for an event. The performer claimed that he was kidnapped there and was asked for a ransom of Rs 20 lakh. As per a report in Times of India Sunil said he didn’t suspect a thing as they had transferred him an advance payment for his performance and even sent a car to pick him up from the Delhi airport. However, after reaching Meerut, a group of men allegedly transferred him to another vehicle, where they scared him with a poison-filled injection.

The kidnappers reportedly made him transfer Rs 7.5 lakh after negotiations and even gave Rs 20,000 to the actor to book a flight back to Mumbai. “They promised to pay the ransom once they found jobs”, said the comedian. An FIR was filed at the Santacruz Police station after the comedian returned to Mumbai.
