Aamir Khan has joined hands with Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuaron to promote Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies. The collaboration is aimed to strengthen the film's run in the international market. According to a report by Variety, Cuaron is set to host a screening of the film in London on December 5.
Along with that, Cuaron will also be hosting sessions at BAFTA headquarters. Speaking of the collaboration, co-producer Jyoti Deshpande told Variety, “It just shows that there are different filmmakers around the world who are willing to champion the film.”
She added, “Whoever has watched the film has really liked it, and it has resonated with people across different cultures. Although it’s a satire, it’s resonating with anyone who watches it.”
The makers had earlier released a new poster and an English title, Lost Ladies, for its Oscar promotions. Aamir and Kiran are currently in NYC to promote the film. It was sent as India’s official entry to the Academy Awards.
Laapataa Ladies released in theatres on March 1 and stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, Chhaya Kadam, and Geeta Aggarwal Sharma in pivotal roles.
Alfonso Cuaron is known for making films like Roma (2018), Gravity (2013) and Children of Men (2006), among others.
