
Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s classic Sholay (1975) is set to have a special screening in Mumbai on Saturday. It has been organized by Film Heritage Foundation who will be screening an almost 50-year-old vintage cinemascope print of the blockbuster. It is scheduled to take at 5:30 pm at Regal Cinema in Mumbai and will be attended by writers Salim-Javed and director Ramesh Sippy.
Taking to Instagram, Film Heritage Foundation made the announcement by sharing the poster of the film along with some stills and wrote, “Here's a look at the poster and a few lobby cards of Sholay (1975)! FHF is excited to announce a one-time only screening of an almost 50 year-old vintage cinemascope print of the blockbuster Sholay (1975) to celebrate the legendary screenwriter duo Salim-Javed on Saturday August 31st at 5.30 pm at Regal Cinema, Mumbai!”
They added, “Don't miss the opportunity to watch the film projected on celluloid on the big screen with Salim-Javed and the director Ramesh Sippy. FHF would like to thank the copyright holder Shehzad Sippy for giving us permission to screen the print of the film preserved at the FHF archive and SMM Ausaja's archive for the poster of the film. Screening is free and open to the public. Seating on first-come, first-served basis.”
The iconic film also starred Hema Malini, Amjad Khan, Jaya Bachchan and Sanjeev Kumar in pivotal roles. Upon its release, the film became a sensation owing to its witty dialogues and dramatic display of emotions.
