Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu’s Khel Khel Mein is having a hard time at the box office since its release on Independence Day. In the past 7 days since its release, the film has managed to collect just over Rs 18.35 crore (India Net), according to Sacnilk.com. It has been met with tough competition from Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s horror comedy Stree 2, which has managed to earn Rs 274.35 crore in one week.

Khel Khel Mein opened at the box office with Rs 5.05 crore, and the collection dropped on Day 2, with the film making over Rs 2.05 crore. It didn’t show a considerable growth over the weekend, earning Rs 3.1 crore on Saturday and Rs 3.85 crore on Sunday. The film saw a further dip on Monday as it managed to get Rs 2 crore.

Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film also stars Vani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal. It is the Hindi remake of the 2016 Italian film, Perfect Strangers.

Our review of the film read, “The risk involved in making such a film is that a slight deviation from anything serious could seem like a major shift in tonality. Khel Khel Mein does deviate, but before things get squirmy, humour makes a return and saves the film. In addition to this, the dirty secrets of the female characters and their reveal required more pizzazz, as they fell flat in comparison to some exceptionally well-written male errors.”
