Javed Akhtar on Kishore Kumar’s 95th birth anniversary: Nobody was like you, nobody will be

On the occasion of legendary singer Kishore Kumar’s 95th birth anniversary on Sunday, veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar took to X to commemorate the day.

“Today is Kishoreda ‘s birth anniversary, I wonder if in the show business all over the world even after so many years any performer is missed by so many with such intensity . Kishoreda aap jaisa tha no hai na hoga (Kishoreda no body was like you and nobody will be),” he wrote.

Born on August 4, 1929, Kishore Kumar donned many hats, including those of the singer, musician and actor. Brother of legendary actor Ashok Kumar, Kishore started his singing career with the song ‘Marne Ki Duayen Kyon Mangu’ from the 1948 film Ziddi. He is known for evergreen songs such as ‘O Mere Dil Ke Chain’ from the film Mere Jeevan Saathi (1972), ‘Tum Aa Gaye Noor Aa Gaya’ from Aandhi (1975), ‘Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna’ from Kudrat (1981), among several others. He also worked as an actor on films like Mr. X in Bombay (1964) and Padosan (1968), among others.

Kishore Kumar passed away on October 13, 1987, at the age of 58.
