Manoj Bajpayee recently opened up on the debate of rising star fees and the contradiction of some producers who are asking for the reduction of star fees when they are the ones who gave them certain benefits.
Speaking about it to ETimes, Manoj said, “But who is giving them the money? Who has been giving them the money? The stars are the face of the film. Everyone who signs a star, is riding on his shoulder. If the stars are asking for some facilities, I don’t think there is anything wrong, as long as it is not insane! Most of these stars sign a film with a reduced fee and a large chunk of profit sharing.”
Talking about the contradiction of producers, Manoj said, “There is a contradiction when people, who have been pampering the stars and riding on their shoulders, are saying that the stars should reduce their fees! First you feed me rasgulla and protein so that I can go for a marathon, because I am the only one you think can win this race, and then you are crying over the number of rasgullas I ate or the protein shakes I drank.”
He added, “No one gave me this money. We go with our limited staff and have often sacrificed over basic facilities as well, but no one casts me. You will still cast a star, because they can guarantee that much number at the box office. At the end of the day, everyone is gambling.”
Manoj was last seen in the actioner Bhaiyya Ji, which released in theatres on May 25.
