Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s romantic-drama Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha opened poorly at the box-office on Friday. According to Sacnilk.com, the film managed to collect just over Rs 2 crore on Day 1. The romantic-drama is written and directed by Neeraj Pandey and also stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Jimmy Sheirgill, and Saiee Manjrekar in pivotal roles.

The film just had an occupancy of 9.16 per cent on Friday. It is among the lowest openers for Ajay, whose last two films, Maidaan and Shaitaan, collected Rs 7.25 crore and 15.21 crore, respectively, on the first day. Along with that, Tabu’s heist comedy Crew had managed to earn Rs 9.25 crore at the box-office when it released in March earlier this year.

The film was earlier scheduled to be released on July 5, but was postponed just days before and pushed to August 2. It clashed at the box office with Janhvi Kapoor’s spy thriller Ulajh, which also failed to make a good collection on Friday.

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is produced by Narendra Hirawat, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Sangeeta Ahir, and Shital Bhatia.

CE's review of the film reads, “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is a difficult film to make and it would be easy to pass it off as a bland and oversaturated mess, were it not for how it chooses to reverse its own aesthetics. Neeraj’s brave attempt to stretch a moment and revisit it through a different perspective at various points in the plot can appear cumbersome to witness. Yet, the spectacle it carries within is too tender to stay indifferent about.”
