The trailer for Kay Kay Menon, Ranvir Shorey, and Rasika Dugal starrer series Shekhar Home was released on Thursday. The show, directed by Rohan Sippy and Srijit Mukherjee, is inspired by the books of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and presents an Indian version of the writer's popular fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes.
The show trades rainy London for sunny small-town West Bengal. Kay Kay Menon is Shekhar Home, a professor and self-proclaimed 'lie detector'. At one point, he also describes himself as a 'high-functioning sociopath', a term which is also used to describe Benedict Cumberbatch's version of Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series. To solve cases, Shekhar partners up with Jayvrat Sahni, a forensic doctor who is the Indian version of Sherlock's trusted aide De. Watson, played by Ranvir Shorey. Rasika Dugal plays a femme fatale sort of character in the series. The show also features Kirti Kulhari.
Shekhar Home is produced by BBC Studios. It is written by Aniruddha Guha (Rashmi Rocket, Malang), Vaibhav Vaishal (Rana Naidu, Scam 1992) and Niharika Puri.
The series will start streaming on JioCinema Premium from August 14.
