Sanjay Dutt: If I do decide to step into the political arena then I will be the first one to announce it

Amid reports of Sanjay Dutt joining the Indian National Congress and contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, the actor has now put up a tweet putting all speculations to rest.

Refuting all such rumours, Sanjay wrote, “I would like to put all rumours about me joining politics to rest. I am not joining any party or contesting elections. If I do decide to step into the political arena then I will be the first one to announce it. Please refrain from believing what is being circulated in the news about me as of now.”

The actor has had his stint in politics before. He was the general secretary of the Samajwadi Party back in 2009 but resigned from the position soon after as he failed to make a difference. Later, in 2019, it was rumoured that the actor was going to join Rashtriya Samaj Paksh. At that time, Sanjay had issued a statement, saying that he is not entering politics. However, he gets associated with politics often as his father Sunil Dutt was an MP of the Congress party and served as Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports (2004-2005).

On the film front, Sanjay was last seen in the Tamil-actioner Leo (2023). He has Telugu film Double iSmart, Kannada film KD – The Devil, and Hindi release Welcome to The Jungle in the pipeline.
