Bonita Rajpurohit, a trans woman, will be playing the lead role in one of the films in Dibakar Banerjee’s upcoming dark-satire Love Sex Aur Dhokha (LSD) 2. The actor was introduced by the makers via a video they shared on social media, which showcases their journey from a small village in Rajasthan. They will be playing the role of Kullu in one of the film segments in LSD 2.
The video shows how Bonita prepped for the role. There are also images from their life and their parents back in the village. “Sapno ke shehar mein (In the city of dreams) Kulu found her calling Meet KULU, our first lead of #LoveSexAurDhokha2, in cinemas on 19th April!,” (sic) the makers captioned the post.
Producer Ektaa R Kapoor also welcomed Bonita to the LSD family. She put up a story sharing the video and wrote, "WELCOME BONITA TO D WORLD OF FILMSS !!! EVERY DREAM IS REAL N DESERVES TO COME TRUE.”
The first part, Love, Sex aur Dhokha, was released back in 2010 and starred Rajkumar Rao, Anshuman Jha and Nushrratt Bharuccha. It featured three different but related stories of an honour killing, an MMS scandal and a sting operation. The film received positive reviews after its release.
LSD 2 is produced by Ektaa R Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. It is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures and Cult Movies and will be released in theatres on April 19.
