The makers of Satyaprem Ki Katha recently released Pasoori Nu, a rendition of the hit Pakistani number Pasoori by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill, and it hasn’t gone down well on social media. Although Arijit Singh has voiced the Hindi version of the song along with Tulsi Kumar, it is being heavily criticized for “ruining a classic.”

The makers are also being lamented for “not understanding the meaning and context of the song.” “they changed the entire meaning and context of Pasoori???? now it's the same boring romantic song aesthetic with 0 personality, like most things in Bollywood these days. I can't..,” tweeted a Twitter user. Others reshared the original song and one even wrote, “cleaning my ears after listening that crap remake, OG masterpiece.”

But Twitterati also didn’t spare Ali Sethi for selling the rights to T Series (the film’s producers) of the song. “While everyone is trolling the actors and producers for remaking the #Pasoori song let's also not forget that it was Coke Studio and Ali Sethi who sold the rights to T-Series in the first place. They should be equally criticized,” posted a user.

Ali and Gurpreet Saini have been credited as lyricists of the song. The music is composed by Rochak Kohli and Ali Sethi.

Satyaprem Ki Katha stars Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani. Directed by Sameer Vidwans, it will hit the theatres on June 29.
