Jawan, the recently released Tamil film starring actor Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, has collected Rs 129.6 crore on the first day of its release, the makers of the film announced on Friday. The film is written and directed by Atlee in his Hindi directorial debut, with Khan's home banner Red Chillies Entertainment backing it.
Jawan also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Ridhi Dongra, among others. Deepika Padukone makes a cameo appearance in the film.
A commercial action drama, Jawan features Khan as a father and son who team up to destroy the forces that plague the society. Vijay Sethupathi plays the antagonist. Anirudh Ravichander has scored the music for the film. Jawan also features cinematography by GK Vishnu and editing by Ruben.
