Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra is back with a new film, the inspiring drama 12th Fail, starring Vikrant Massey as an IPS aspirant named Manoj.

The almost three-minute-long trailer shows glimpses of the protagonist’s journey from a small village in Chambal to the bustling nerve centre of UPSC preparation in Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar. Despite his superiors mistreating him, the trailer showcases Vikrant Massey's relentless pursuit in his process to become an IPS officer.

12th Fail is based on Anurag Pathak's novel, about the journey of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS officer Shraddha Joshi. The film is also inspired by millions of true stories of students attempting the world's toughest competitive exam - UPSC. According to the makers, it's the first film to be shot in Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar, the hub of UPSC preparations in the national capital.

Talking about the film, Vidhu Vinod Chopra said, "In today's times, I wanted to tell a story of hope, a story of never giving up. 12th Fail is all that and more. I have laughed, cried, sang along, and had fun making this movie. I truly believe that this film will find a universal connect when it comes out in theatres."

The film marks the return of Vidhu to the director’s chair after 2020’s Shikara.

12th Fail is set to release worldwide on October 27th in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
