The Kerala Story makers to team up again for Bastar

The director Sudipto Sen and producer Vipul Shah, who worked together on The Kerala Story, will collaborate once again for a new project titled Bastar. The makers also confirmed that the film would hit the screens on April 5, 2024. Vipul Shah's production company Sunshine Pictures made the announcement through their Twitter handle.

According to the production house's tweet, the film will be based on a real-life event, " Unveiling our next, Bastar. Prepare to witness another gripping true incident that will leave you speechless. Mark your calendars for April 5, 2024," the production house wrote on Twitter.

The Kerala Story has generated controversy since the release of its trailer. The trailer claimed 32,000 Kerala women had been forcibly converted to Islam and recruited by ISIS. After the Kerala HC questioned the integrity of the figure, the filmmakers agreed to take down the trailer.

Following its release, the film also stirred up controversy in various regions of the country. Although it was a commercial success, earning over 200 crores at the box office, the West Bengal government banned it due to potential tensions between communities. Additionally, the Tamil Nadu government refrained from screening the film due to safety concerns and poor reception.
