Tiku Weds Sheru trailer: Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays a newly-married junior artist whose wife runs away

Keeping up with his streak of “marriage-comedies”, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will next be seen in the OTT film Tiku Weds Sheru, the trailer of which was unveiled today. The film also stars Avneet Kaur, a TV actor who made her film debut in the Rani Mukerji headliner Mardaani (2014).

The film marks the first production of Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika Films. It is directed by Sai Kabir Srivastav and co-written by him and Amit Tiwari.

The trailer introduces us to Sheru (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a hustling junior artist (“I do everything with passion”). He claims to have “financed” 44 films. Sheru gets married to a loud-mouthed aspiring actress called Tiku (Avneet Kaur). Although she assures him that she is marrying him of her own free will, it seems like the marriage was just a way to get to Mumbai (Tiku hails from Bhopal). Once in the city, Tiku runs away with a bag of money and Sheru is on the lookout for her. Actor Zakir Hussain is also seen followed by army personnel. There are scenes of Sheru professing his love for Tiku, in another sequence two gangs exchange gunfire. Nawazuddin sums it up in the end, “It’s not about the machine gun you spray over the terrorist attack. It's about two people under one sky and their happy marriage. You know what I mean?”

Talking about his character, Nawazuddin said, “What excited me about Sheru is that while personifying the challenges faced by individuals aspiring to achieve success in the entertainment industry, he is relatable, brings his own set of quirks, and stands out as an endearing character.”

Nawazuddin was last seen in Jogira Sara Ra Ra, in which he played a hustling wedding planner who is tasked with breaking up Neha Sharma’s marriage. The film couldn’t perform well at the box office.

Tiku Weds Sheru will premiere on Prime Video on June 23.
