On Monday, filmmaker Hansal Mehta took to Twitter to praise Netflix's recent series Kohrra. Directed by Randeep Jha, the series starred Survinder Vicky, Barun Sobti, Manish Chaudhary, and Harleen Sethi in lead roles.
Mentioning that the Kohrra is set up in a Punjab inhabited and haunted by cops, durgs, crime and messed up people, Mehta wrote, "Pet themes from Paatal Lok and Udta Punjab show up in different ways in the quite spectacular Kohrra on Netflix."
Further, he also commended the performances in the series. "Some terrific performances by Survinder Vicky and Barun Sobti. In fact, most of the ensemble is so well-cast and does really well. Well-written, excellently directed and unabashedly authentic this is Indian storytelling at its best. Kudos to Sudip Sharma, Gunjit, Diggy and Randeep Jha."
Lastly, praising the technical team, he wrote, "Terrific work on editing and sound design. The moody yet unobtrusive cinematography is more than effective. Terrific work guys. Take a bow."
Kohhra revolves around a murder investigation of an NRI just before his wedding in the countryside of Punjab. As the investigation unfolds, a world of deceit, secrets and the dramas of dysfunctional families are revealed. Sudip Sharma, Diggi Sisodia and Gunjit Chopra are the creators of this series, which premiered on the platform on July 15.
