What Jhumka, a peppy number from Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, was released on Wednesday. The director took to his Instagram today to share a teaser of the song, which features the film’s leads Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt grooving to the number. The film’s music is composed by Madan Mohan and Pritam. It is sung by Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi. The rap portion is sung by Ranveer Singh.
What Jhumka is the second song from the film’s album. It is a celebratory dance number shot in an extravagant festive set which also has a huge bunch of back dancers. Before this, the makers released the love ballad Tum Kya Mile which is a Yash Raj-style romance number and featured Ranveer and Alia romancing in the backdrop of snow-capped mountains. Apart from Ranveer and Alia, Rocky Aur Rani… also features Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi, among others. The film marks Karan’s return to the director’s chair after seven years. Although in-between he directed shorts in Netflix anthologies Lust Stories and Ghost Stories, the last feature film helmed by him was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016).
The story and screenplay of the film are penned by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan, and Sumit Roy. Rocky Aur Rani… will drop in theatres on July 28.
