The teaser of Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer OMG 2 was released by the makers on Tuesday. The film, written and directed by Amit Rai, also features Yami Gautam. It is a spiritual sequel of the 2012 Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar starrer OMG: Oh My God!.
The teaser begins with Pankaj Tripathi’s voiceover sermonizing over the existence of God. “God doesn’t discriminate between a believer and a non-believer,” it states. We see some scenes from 2012’s OMG with Paresh’s atheist character Kanji Lalji Mehta and Akshay’s Krishna Vasudev Yadav, spinning a keychain. We are then introduced to the new characters, a staunch believer Kanti Sharan Mudgal (Pankaj Tripathi) who is seen making an offering to the Shivalinga on the bank of a reservoir. From under the water behind, emerges Akshay’s Shiva. The teaser suggests that some tragedy strikes Kanti’s family (a boy is seen getting under a train). But Akshay’s Shiva imparts hope, “Keep faith, you are Shiva’s disciple,” he says.

OMG 2 is produced by Akshay’s Cape of Good Films, Viacom18 Studios, Swaroop Paresh Rawal, Hemal A. Thakkar, Vipul D. Shah, Ashwin Varde and Rajesh Bahl. Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi (director of Samrat Prithviraj, 2022) serves as creative producer on the project.
OMG 2 is slated to release in theatres on August 11. It will clash in theatres with another sequel, Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2.
