Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, who created the recently released most-anticipated second season of Made in Heaven, responded to a question from an Instagram user who asked her if she will ever portray 'normal' Muslim characters in her shows.
In the comments section, an Internet user probed Zoya asking: "Zoya can you (show) normal Muslim characters in your shows? One positive story that is not oppressed."
The user seems to have hinted at Dia Mirza's character in episode six titled The Warrior Princess in the show where Dia played Shehnaz, who tries to take her life when her husband (played by Pravin Dabas) marries for the second time.
To this Zoya, replied, "Zaffar Khan and Tanveer in Luck By Chance. Imran and Laila in ZNMD. Farah Ali in Dil Dhadakne Do. Practically everyone in Gully Boy. Sarfaraz khan and Leila Shirazi, Kabir, Faiza and Nawab have in Made In Heaven.
Made in Heaven 2, currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, has been at the receiving end of both praise and controversy.
Sobitha Dhulipala, Arjun Mathur, Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Raaz, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Shashank Arora are in lead roles and have reprised their roles from season one. Mona Singh and Trinetra Haldar are in supporting roles.
