Pakistani singer and politician Abrar-ul-Haq said on Saturday that he will take legal action against Karan Johar and T-series for using his song ‘Nach Punjaban’ in their upcoming film Jugjugg Jeeyo. The Pak singer took to social media on Saturday and said that he has not sold the song to anyone.

He put up a video on Twitter with the caption, “Stop stealing our songs.” “A lot of fans have been asking me ‘why haven’t you gone to court against Karan Johar and T-Series for stealing your song ‘Nach Punjaban’. The answer is yes. I’m going to the court, don’t worry. Merely saying that the credit has been given because the song is well-written and would make their movie a hit. I never gave you the song, I never gave anybody the rights to my song. It belongs to me, so I’ll get it back and I’m coming to the court, see you there,” he said in the video.

He also tagged Karan Johar and T-Series in the tweet with the hashtag StopStealingOurSongs.

Earlier on May 22, Abrar had accused filmmaker Karan Johar of stealing his song 'Nach Punjaban'. In a tweet, Abrar had stated that he did not sell his song to any Indian movie and that Karan Johar should "not use copy song." He also said that he has not licensed the song to anyone and if somebody claims they should produce the agreement, otherwise he would take legal action. "This is my sixth song being copied," he had said.

Replying to Abrar’s accusation, T-Series then put up a statement stating that they "legally acquired" the rights to the song 'Nach Punjaban' from the album of the same name which was released on January 1, 2002.

“The song is available on Lollywood Classics' YouTube channel, owned by Moviebox Records Label, for the film Jugjugg Jeeyo produced by Dharma Productions. All due credits shall be included across platforms when the song releases. As represented by Moviebox Records Label the said copyrights exclusively vest with Moviebox only with all valid documents,” read the statement.

Jugjugg Jeeyo directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Viacom 18 Studios is scheduled to release on June 24.
