Fans compare Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan look to Darkman

Earlier today, the title and release date of Shah Rukh Khan-Atlee's film was revealed. Jawan will hit theatres on June 2, 2023.

This was accompanied by a teaser video revealing SRK's look from the film. The actor, in bruised-up action hero mode, is seen in a red jacket with bandages around his head. The teaser shows him in a hideout, picking guns and readying for a mission.

Soon after the look was revealed, users on social media compared it to Darkman, Sam Raimi's 1990 superhero film starring Liam Neeson as a disfigured vigilante. Liam's character, like Shah Rukh's, had his face in bandages, after sustaining burn injuries. Later, he assumes the identity of his enemies through face masks.

Plot details on Jawan are scarce at the moment. In a statement, Shah Rukh said that the film is a 'universal story that goes beyond languages, geographies and is for all to enjoy.'

Echoing this thought, Atlee said, "Jawan has something in it for everyone be it actions, emotions, drama all woven into create a visual spectacle. I want to give the audiences an exceptional experience, an event which they all can enjoy together and who better to deliver it than Shah Rukh Khan himself, presented like never before”.

Jawan is the third Shah Rukh Khan film announced this year. The actor, who took a break after 2018's Zero, will also be seen in Pathaan and Dunki.
