Shamita Shetty drops teaser of comeback film The Tenant, release date out

Returning to Hindi films after a gap of 14 years, actor Shamita Shetty on Saturday dropped the teaser of her upcoming film The Tenant. 

Starring Shamita in the lead role, The Tenant follows an independent woman residing in a rented apartment in Mumbai. Living all by herself, she faces judgements, catcalls and prejudice from society. 

Shamita was last seen on Bigg Boss OTT and the web show Black Widows. Her last film outing was in Cash (2007). She also had special appearances in Heyy Babyy (2008) and Hari Puttar (2008).

Talking about her new film, Shamita shares, “The Tenant is extremely special to me in many ways. Not only does it mark my return to the cinemas but also narrates a story that so closely reflects a much prevailing and disturbing aspect of society. The film has already received heartwarming love at international film festivals and I'm glad the story finds a heart universally.”

The Tenant is written and directed by Sushrut Jain. The film will be releasing on February 10, 2023 in theatres. The teaser of the film has been attached to Avatar: The Way of Water in cinemas.
