How Kannada actor Yuvan Hariharan polished his Hindi skills for The Y

Kannada actor Yuvan Hariharan, who is going to make his acting debut with the Bollywood film The Y, polished his Hindi skills for the role.

The psychological horror film is about a woman who starts experiencing paranormal activities in her new house after the arrival of a gift. Her husband then takes it upon himself to get to the bottom of the matter.

The film will be directed by Kannada director Girideva Raaj. He has earlier helmed the Kannada film Zero Made In India and this will be his Hindi film debut. The Y also stars Leonilla.

Yuvan, who grew up and studied in Karnataka, said, "Hindi was my third language in school. Although I knew how to read and write, it was difficult for me to speak fluently."

When he was offered the role in the film, he started watching Hindi movies regularly. "I started speaking to people in my friend circle who knew Hindi well," he added.

Yuvan also did an acting course at the Roshan Taneja School of Acting. "I had to deliver dialogues in Hindi, so that gave me confidence. Our team also did a three-month workshop prior to the shooting," said the actor.

The Y will release on January 6, 2023.
