The Anshuman Jha-starrer Lakadbaggha (Hyena) will release in theatres worldwide on January 13, 2023.

The film, inspired by real events in Kolkata, deals with the illegal animal trade industry. Anshuman stars as an animal-loving vigilante fighter in this Victor Mukherjee directorial. Lakadbaggha recently premiered at the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF).

In the film, Arjun Bakshi (Anshuman), while trying to protect his adopted Indian stray dogs, unearths the fact that an underground illegal animal trade cell functions from the Kolkata port. Upon investigating he chances upon a rare species of the Indian Striped Hyena (Lakadbaggha) - which has been kidnapped from Corbett National Park and is being sold in the black market.

Anshuman trained in Krav-Maga and also went to New York to train under Tsahi Shemesh (trainer of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) for the film.

Anshuman shared, "Lakadbaggha is my love letter to dogs(and animals at large) & I can't wait for the world to meet Arjun's character on January 13th. He is ordinary & that's his super power. This is a universal film with an Indian soul set in Kolakata & the action is nothing like anything you have seen before."

His co-star Ridhi Dogra said, "Lakadbaggha is truly a special film - it has action thrill but also a soul. Akshara, my character is the grey between the world's of the protagonist and the antagonist. It is obviously special for its my big screen debut. And I can't wait for the world to watch it in January 2023."Lakadbaggha also features Milind Soman and Paresh Pahuja in key roles.
