R Madhavan hopes Jacqueline Fernandez 'gets out of trouble very soon' after the actor was named as an accused by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case against conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

Speaking to the media during the trailer launch of his new film, Dhokha - Round D Corner, R Madhavan said, "I hope she (Jacqueline) gets out of trouble very soon."

He added that the incident isn't representative of the film fraternity.

"I don’t think this is affecting the image of the country," Madhavan was quoted as saying. "If fact, in our film fraternity, there have been lesser number of tax raids. Everyone is working with full honesty. I don’t think it will affect the industry. Higher taxpayers are from this industry," Madhavan said.

The ED, in its supplementary chargesheet filed in a Delhi court on Wednesday, named Jacqueline as an accused. It also claimed that the actor received gifts of over Rs 5 crore from Sukesh and was aware that they were bought from the proceeds of the crime.

For the uninitiated, Sukesh Chandrashekhar is being probed for over 30 criminal cases by multiple agencies. He has been charged with conning a businessman's wife while lodged in Tihar Jail. His wife Leela Marie Paul, a co-accused in the cases, is also lodged in the same jail.
