Filmmaker Mike P Nelson is set to direct the next instalment in the Saw franchise from Lionsgate, the banner he is currently associated with for the horror film Beware Boiuna. This film also marks the return of James Wan, a co-creator of the franchise, who is also producing it under Blumhouse Atomic Monster along with the franchise's original co-writer Leigh Whannell.
It is worth noting that Wan directed the first film in 2004, which he wrote with Leigh Whannell. The new film is written by Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock.
Nelson made his debut with The Domestics (2018), and he went on to direct Wrong Turn (2021) and Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025). His Beware Boiuna is releasing in the US on October 2. The film revolves around the animal predator Boiuna in the Amazon rainforest.
The Saw franchise has had 10 installments so far from directors James Wan, Darren Lynn, David Hackl, Kevin Greutert, and The Spierig Brothers. The franchise spans from 2004, with the last film released on September 29, 2023.
