Melanie Lynskey, who is known for her work in Two and a Half Men and Yellowjackets, will headline the cast of the miniseries, Mushroom Murders. The actor is also serving as an executive producer on the upcoming series.
Mushroom Murders is based on the real life 2023 murders in Leongatha, Australia, where Erin Patterson served beef, laced with a deadly poison from the death cap mushrooms, to her estranged in-laws and other relatives. Lynskey will portray Patterson in the upcoming series, which is set during the 97 days between the murders and Patterson's arrest.
Anya Beyersdorf, Diana Reid, and Deb Balderstone have created Mushroom Murders. While the trio serve as executive producers, Reid will direct all six episodes with Beyersdorf serving as a writer. Soapbox Pictures and Paramount+ are backing the series.
Lynskey, who was last seen in the Netflix film, Don't Say Good Luck, will return for the final season of HBO's Yellowjackets.
