It has been 32 years since the release of director Quentin Tarantino's classic film Pulp Fiction, starring Samuel L Jackson and John Travolta in the lead roles. On the special occasion, Jackson took to Instagram, appeared on video, and delivered one of his most iconic dialogues from the film. The moment comes at one point in the film before Jackson's character Jules Winnfield shoots a man. Tarantino's variation of a Biblical quote ends with the now-iconic line, "And you will know my name is the lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
Pulp Fiction stars Samuel L Jackson as a henchman who miraculously escapes a firing incident in a room, making him a believer in the almighty and triggering a redemptive transformation in him. The incident causes Jackson's character to reconsider his faith, and at the end of the film, he chooses not to kill a character thanks to his newfound set of beliefs.
By then, Winnfield has chosen to leave his hitman days behind him for a more peaceful life ahead. In his own words, he "is trying real hard to become the shepherd" by the end of Tarantino's iconic film.
This is not the first time Jackson delivered the aforesaid line. He did the same with a greater level of intensity during an episode of the talk show with host Graham Norton, eliciting big cheers from the audience.
In a recent Howard Stern podcast episode, Jackson admitted that he wanted to win a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Pulp Fiction. The award went to Martin Landau for his performance in Ed Wood. Admitting that he felt bitter about missing out on the award, Jackson said, "I think I am the only person in the history of the Academy Awards, when they have everybody's face in the little squares, that said s**t when I did not win."
