Filmmaker Joachim Ronning, whose recent credits include Tron: Ares, is set to direct the horror film System. He is helming the film with a script he co-wrote with his brother, Andreas Ronning.

The filmmaker is also producing the film under his banner, The Saga Company, along with Image Nation and Spooky Pictures' Roy Lee (It, Weapons) and Steven Schneider (Insidious).

Ronning made his debut with Bandidas (2006). He also helmed films like Max Manus: Man of War (2008), the Academy Award-nominated Kon-Tiki (2012), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017), Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019), Young Woman and the Sea (2024), with his last film being Tron: Ares (2025). From his debut film Bandidas to Pirates of the Caribbean, Ronning co-directed the films along with Espen Sandberg.

System's cast and crew have yet to be revealed. However, according to reports, the makers say the film is currently in production in London.
