Actor Samantha Bee is set to play Canada's unorthodox ambassador to Bulgaria in CBC's upcoming sitcom, The Ambassador. The project was announced along with many others in CBC's slate.
The show, which comes from Son of a Critch showrunner Tim McAuliffe, has Samantha Bee as a correspondent Oliver Winters, a former actor turned diplomat at Bulgaria's Canadian embassy. Joining Winters is her best friend, Allana Harkin’s Andrea Taylor, a sharp diplomat.
The upcoming ten-part series is produced by Amaza Film & Television.
Bee made her TV debut in 2000 with Real Kids, Real Adventures. She became popular with the talk shows such as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (2003-2015) and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee (2016-2022). She has her feature credits Underdog (2007), Furry Vengeance (2010) and Sisters (2015).
