The mystery-adventure video game franchise 'Broken Sword' is set to have a film adaptation from the game maker Revolution Software, producer Story Kitchen and Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos.

The 'Broken Sword' game series, which was launched in 1996, was created by Charles Cecil. The game franchise, set across iconic European locations, revolves around the courageous American adventurer George Stobbart and the bold French journalist Nicole Collard, who together navigate the ecclesiastical conspiracy. The video game franchise is a product of Cecil's in-depth research on the Knights Templar, a Catholic military order deputed to defend the faithful on their pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Jerusalem.

Spiliotopoulos' writing credits include Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Snake Eyes (a GI Joe movie) and The Unholy.

Boasting over 10 million players worldwide, 'Broken Sword', which has had five titles released over the past three decades, is credited with laying the foundation for modern-day narrative-driven games.
