The live-action Animal Friends film from Warner Bros, headlined by Jason Momoa and Ryan Reynolds in leading voice roles has once again shifted its release date to January 22, 2027. The road trip adventure, directed by Peter Atencio (Keanu, The Machine), was earlier scheduled to hit theatres on June 5 this year.
Scripted by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider, Animal Friends also has Aubrey Plaza as a DEA agent, Addison Rae, Dan Levy as a Fish and Wildlife ranger, Lil Rey Howery as the voice of a bird and Ellie Bamber. Legendary, Maximum Effort and Prime Focus Studios are the banners backing the film.
The film was initially scheduled for release in August 15 last year through Columbia, but was moved to Warner Bros later after Legendary's distribution deal ended with Sony. Its release underwent several changes before landing its current date.
Reynolds was last seen in Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024 and is awaiting the release of Apple TV's Mayday which premieres in September. On the other hand, Momoa's latest film was The Wrecking Crew. He has Street Fighter and Dune: Part Three set for release later this year.
