After years of being stuck in development hell, Lights Out 2 is finally moving forward with Warner Bros hiring upcoming writer Connor Osborn McIntyre to script the sequel for the popular 2016 horror-thriller.
Lawrence Grey is returning to back the project while director David F Sandberg and Eric Heisserer (writer of Lights Out) are also producing, along with Ben Everard and Lotta Losten. James Wan's Atomic Monster is also backing.
A critical and commercially successful film, Lights Out was Sandberg's directorial debut, based on his own 2013 short film. Starring Teresa Palmer, Gabriel Bateman and Alexander DiPersia in leading roles, the film followed a woman who must protect her young half-brother against a sinister ghost that lurks in the dark and kills its victims there. Billy Burke, and Maria Bello are also part of the cast. The film grossed over Rs 149 million worldwide.
After Lights Out's success, Sandberg went on to make Annabelle: Creation and Shazam!.
McIntyre has written the upcoming film Animals, starring Ben Affleck who also directs the movie. Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, and Kerry Washington also star.
