Ella Purnell is all set for her killer return in the second season of Sweetpea. The series' makers unveiled the first look image of the upcoming season on Tuesday. The poster featured the word 'monster' strewn on a wall in ketchup, with Purnell's shy murderer, Rhiannon Lewis, holding the sauce bottle.
A plot synopsis for Sweetpea season 2 reads, "Navigating a new promotion, an irresistible rebound, and a copycat killer threatening to expose her, the kill list is mounting. And Rhiannon is forced to question whether her perfect ex, AJ, was right: Is she a monster?”
Apart from Purnell, the series also stars Nicole Lecky, Jon Pointing, Calam Lynch, Leah Harvey, Jeremy Swift, Dustin Demri-Burns, Luke McGibney, Ingrid Oliver, Alexandra Dowling, Nitin Ganatra and David Bark-Jones.
New cast members joining the ensemble of the series are Rish Shah as Rhiannon’s romantic interest Gabriel; Tamsin Greig as AJ’s mother, Liv; Taj Atwal as Rhiannon’s formidable new boss at the Carnsham Gazette, Freya; and Jenny Walser as a new friend, Daisy.
The series, directed by Ella Jones, is created by Kirstie Swain and written by her along with Krissie Ducker, Laura Jayne Tunbridge and Selina Lim. It is based on the 2017 novel by CJ Skuse. A premiere date for season two is yet to be announced by the makers.
