The cast of Cameron Diaz and Stephen Merchant's upcoming romantic comedy is getting larger with the addition of four new actors: Fabrizio Guido, Lisa Gilroy, Myra Lucretia Taylor and Dustin Ybarra. The yet-to-be-titled film will be directed by Merchant from a screenplay he co-wrote with John Butler.
They join previously announced cast members Josh Segarra, known for Best Medicine, and Joy Ride actor and comedian Sherry Cola.
According to the makers, the film centres on a career-obsessed British man (Merchant) working at a luxury New York hotel who requires a spouse to maintain appearances. He enters a convenient arrangement with a cash-strapped stand-up comedian (Diaz) seeking health insurance. What begins as a practical agreement gradually evolves into an unforeseen romantic connection.
The film is produced by Lee Eisenberg and Merchant, alongside Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Josh Fagen. Natalie Sandy serves as executive producer.
Guido is widely recognised for his recent work in the Running Point starring Kate Hudson, as well as in season two of Perry Mason. His other credits include Mr. Iglesias and the film Good Burger 2.
Gilroy has appeared in several notable series such as The Studio, Twisted Metal, Interior Chinatown, A Man on the Inside, Shrinking, and Jury Duty. His upcoming film projects include Super Troopers 3, Office Romance, and You Deserve Each Other.
Taylor was most recently seen in the Academy Award–winning film American Fiction. His other film and television appearances include Ben Is Back, The Big Sick, and series such as Atlanta, Poker Face, Hunters, and Girls.
Ybarra has a recurring role in the series Ghosts and has appeared in films like One of Them Days and Us. His additional film credits include Ted 2, Hop, We Bought a Zoo, G.B.F., 21 & Over, and Date and Switch.
