House of the Dragon season 3 is set to release on HBO internationally and on JioHotstar in India later this June. Ahead of its premiere, the third chapter in the series has been garnering much appreciation from critics, who have caught early previews. The makers of the series have already released posters with catchphrases from some of the House of the Dragon season 3 reviews, calling it 'transcendent,' 'spectacular' and 'gripping,' 'devastating' and so forth. Some critics call it the best chapter in the series so far. However, it is worth noting that reviewers have formed the judgement only based on four episodes.
Set two centuries preceding the events of HBO's own Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon tells the epic tale of a civil war during the House Targaryen dynasty, where King Viserys I Targaryen's offspring fight to take control of the throne. An adaptation of George RR Martin's book Fire and Blood, it serves as a Game of Thrones prequel.
The third season of the series stars Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emma D'Arcy as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, and Olivia Cooke as Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower. The cast also includes Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, Phoebe Campbell, Ewan Mitchell, Harry Collett, Jefferson Hall, Freddie Fox, Simon Russell Beale, Kieran Bew, Gayle Rankin, and Clinton Liberty, among others.
HBO has already renewed House of the Dragon for a fourth season, which is set to serve as its final chapter as well. The finale is expected to release in 2028 only. Meanwhile, the third season is releasing on HBO and Max on June 21; in India, it is expected to be available on JioHotstar on the subsequent day.
