Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria, recently made a revelation about his series and its star Sydney Sweeney. Speaking to The New York Times, Levinson said that he wanted to remove nude scenes featuring the actor from the third season of the series. "When I first wrote it, I was like, 'Maybe we shoot all of this and we don’t have any nudity. Maybe there’s ways to shoot around certain things?,'" the Euphoria creator said. However, Sweeney did not approve of his creative choice. Recalling her response for his suggestion, Levinson added, "She looked at me and she was like, 'Are you kidding? I’m playing an OnlyFans model. You’re telling me you’re going to, like, skirt around it?' And I was like, 'Yeah, OK, that’s a fair point.'"
Euphoria stars Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Howard and proved a breakthrough role for the actor. In the series, the term 'OnlyFans' refers to a subscription-based digital platform that Sweeney's character utilises for fame and money.
The actor is reprising her role in the third and final season of the series. Earlier, the series courted criticism for using an excessive amount of sex. Levinson told The Times that nudity is necessary for the role and that he made everything to make the actors comfortable with it from the audition period itself. He revealed the use of an intimacy coordinator from the audition to the actual shoot in adherence to the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) rules. The Euphoria creator also said that actors should be made comfortable and safe on set to help extract great performances from them.
Levinson also commended Sweeney for her total lack of fear and being "wonderfully professional" and revealed that they have much trust between each other.
