The first teaser trailer of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 is here and marks the beginning of doom as it showcases Sauron’s rise in the Middle-earth and forging of the One Ring.
The streamer showcased the upcoming season during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con's Hall H, where showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay were joined by cast members Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman and newcomer Jamie Campbell Bower.
The first teaser gives glimpse of Middle-earth plunged into all-out war as Sauron's quest to forge the One Ring gathers pace. With the Dark Lord seeking to bring every kingdom under his control, the trailer hints at epic battles, uneasy alliances and the return of some of Tolkien's most fearsome creatures.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set thousands of years before the events of JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, and is based on the backstory as detailed by the author in the appendices of the book. The new season's description reads, "Jumping forward several years from the events of Season Two, Season Three takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war, bind all peoples to his will – and at last rule all Middle-earth."
The cast of the upcoming third season includes Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond and Charlie Vickers as Sauron. Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Jamie Campbell Bower, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Eddie Marsan, Zubin Varla, and Adam Young, are also part of the upcoming season.
JD Payne and Patrick McKay have developed the series, and serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and executive producer-director Charlotte Brändström. Matthew Penry-Davey is producer and Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee are co-producers.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres on Prime Video on November 11.
