Actor Clive Standen, who has played Rollo in the Vikings series, has been cast in the upcoming feature, The Colonel. He replaces Neal McDonough as the lead in the film. The film, which stars Kelly Frye (Criminal Minds) as the female lead, also stars Sam Huntsman and Peter Gerety in the supporting cast.

The upcoming film is based on the true story of a celebrated Texas football coach, Lieutenant Colonel RC "Rocky" Rosacker. Tim Williams, RC Rosacker's former student, is directing, writing, and producing the film.

The Colonel chronicles the life of RC Rosacker, whose infectious positivity and influence extended beyond the football field. He also transformed the surrounding community.

Rosacker, a decorated Marine officer, was forced into early retirement. As he quit the forces, he is tasked with restoring order among Texas prep school's rebellious students, as the school is on the brink of shutting down. Through his leadership, uncompromising discipline, and accountability, he transformed the lives of many students. The school's football stadium was named Rosacker Field in his honour in 1988.

In addition to Vikings, Standen has also starred in Taken and was most recently seen in Walking with Dinosaurs.
