Even before Now You See Me 4 begins production, Jesse Eisenberg has made it clear that he is more than ready to return as illusionist J Daniel Atlas.

Speaking in a recent interview with The Wrap, the two-time Oscar nominee said revisiting the film's universe remains his biggest professional wish, describing the franchise as the happiest experience of his career. "Honestly, I'd love to do Now You See Me 4 more than anything else," Eisenberg said. "I've never felt happier than when playing that part."

Now You See Me 3 earns $75.5 million worldwide

The actor, who is often associated with emotionally complex and introspective characters, said Atlas offers him a rare opportunity to step into the shoes of someone brimming with confidence. "I normally play depressed people, which makes me depressed," he joked, adding that portraying the self-assured magician leaves him feeling energised. "Playing that confident, arrogant magician, I walk away every day thinking, 'That was amazing.'"

Eisenberg also said Atlas is unlike any other role he has played. "It's the only character where I get to stand up straight and wear a nicer outfit. It's my happiest place," he said.

Now You See Me: Now You Don't Movie Review: Nails the reunion, but bungles the rune

The actor most recently reprised the role in Now You See Me: Now You Don't, directed by Ruben Fleischer, which was released in November. The film reunited him with franchise regulars Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo and Morgan Freeman, while Lizzy Caplan also returned to the ensemble.

The film series began in 2013 and follows the Four Horsemen, a team of illusionists who use elaborate magic tricks to expose corruption and outwit powerful adversaries. The first two films went on to become commercial successes, collectively grossing more than $932 million worldwide.

Last year, Lionsgate confirmed at CinemaCon that a fourth film is already in development, with Ruben Fleischer set to return to the director's chair. While plot details and a release timeline remain under wraps, Eisenberg's latest comments suggest the actor is eager to reunite with the Four Horsemen once again.
